The Wizard of Oz is an adventure film directed by Fumihiko Takayama and starring Aileen Quinn.
The film tells the story of a kind girl Dorothy was blown to a strange and magical country by a tornado - the Land of Oz, and lost her way home.
There, she met the scarecrow who had no brain, the tin man who had no heart and the lion who was very timid.
They in order to realize their wishes, help each other, hand in hand cooperation, through hardships and dangers, encountered a lot of strange things.
In the end, with their extraordinary intelligence and tenacious perseverance, they all achieved their wishes.

《绿野仙踪》改编自童话小说，因此影片采用了比较简单的叙述结构，以遵照平衡，打破平衡然后重建平衡的线性结构为主体。影片最初的平衡建立在小女孩桃乐茜与叔叔婶婶生活的堪萨斯城，而后突然袭击的龙卷风打破这种平衡，最后以桃乐茜重返家园而重建平衡。
除了采取这种简单的模式以外，影片人物的设计与分配也遵从了原著的模式，虽然简单地将人物设计为正反两方，却不单调。
